The new LED headlights will be offered as standard equipment on the VHD 300 daycab and VHD 400 regional sleeper models to help reduce eye strain, increase visibility and improve safety on roads and jobsites. The new headlights also provide an estimated 10,000 operating hours, ten times greater than previous incandescent headlights.

Beginning this month, researchers at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) will use a Volvo VHD 430 vocational model outfitted with highly specialized instrumentation to help evaluate the safety of highway surfaces in several U.S states. The project, funded by the Federal Highway Administration, will analyze continuous stretches of pavement to determine whether improving highway materials or design could reduce crashes and save lives.
