Jared Ruiz has been appointed Regional Vice President – West for Volvo Trucks North America. He begins his new position on January 3, 2023.
Volvo Trucks North America will enter its 21st consecutive year as the exclusive sponsor of the America’s Road Team public outreach program in 2023. Peter Voorhoeve, president of Volvo Trucks North America, made the announcement at the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) Management Conference & Exhibition (MC&E) in Nashville, Tennessee.
Volvo Trucks North America hosted Penske Truck Leasing executives at the Volvo Trucks Customer Center in Dublin, Va. today to commemorate the delivery of the 25,000th truck in a partnership that has spanned the last two decades. On hand for the ceremony were board members of the Volvo Group Board of Directors, including President and Chief Executive Officer Martin Lundstedt, and the President of Volvo Trucks North America, Peter Voorhoeve. Accepting delivery of the trucks were Penske executives Art Vallely, President of Penske Truck Leasing and Paul Rosa, Senior Vice President of Procurement and Fleet Planning at Penske.
Volvo Trucks North America announced the culmination of the Volvo LIGHTS project – an innovative three-year project that brought together 14 public and private partners to design and implement a blueprint for the robust support ecosystem necessary to deploy battery-electric trucks and equipment at scale. During the project, which ran from 2019 to 2022 in California’s South Coast Air Basin, Volvo Trucks deployed its first Class 8 pilot Volvo VNR Electric trucks to fleet operators to collect real-world operating data and customer feedback ahead of announcing its commercial model in December 2020.
Kyle Zimmerman is appointed public relations manager for Volvo Trucks North America. Kyle begins his new position on July 11, 2022.
Volvo Trucks North America is set to debut its next generation Volvo VNR Electric 6x2 tractor in its booth (#1736) during the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California, May 9-12, 2022. Volvo Trucks’ ACT Expo booth will for the first time also feature a long-haul VNL model, integrated with the Aurora Driver from Volvo Autonomous Solutions, and an ECR25 Electric excavator from Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE).

Volvo Trucks celebrated the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) new trucking ambassadors at the association’s headquarters in Arlington, Va., last week including delivery of a VNL 760 long-haul tractor. The newly appointed America’s Road Team Captains will use the VNL 760 to haul the ATA Interstate One mobile classroom for their nationwide education program.
