Volvo Trucks North America will showcase the VNR Electric and 25th anniversary Volvo VNL 760 model in its booth #8045 at the American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) 2021 Fall Meeting Sept. 12-16 in the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland, Ohio. Cutaways of the Volvo I-Shift intelligent automated manual transmission and latest-generation D13 Turbo Compound (D13TC) engine, along with the new Volvo VNR Electric motor, will also be on display.

“This year’s TMC show will allow attendees to experience our sustainable transport solutions firsthand, from Volvo Trucks’ flagship heavy-duty truck and first commercially available battery-electric Class 8 vehicle to the latest in uptime and connectivity,” said Chris Stadler, product marketing manager at Volvo Trucks North America. “These best-in-class innovations are the latest examples of Volvo Trucks’ commitment to providing our customers intelligent, energy-efficient systems without compromising on fuel efficiency, performance, dependability or safety.”

Currently in production at Volvo Trucks’ New River Valley manufacturing facility in Dublin, Virginia, the Volvo VNR Electric provides decarbonized transport solutions for customer applications and driving cycles with local and regional distribution ranges. Equipped with a driveline rated at 455 HP, the Volvo VNR Electric generates up to 4,051 lb.-ft. of torque and features 264-kWh battery capacity supporting an operating range of up to 150 miles, as well as the capability to re-charge to 80% of battery energy within 70 minutes.

At the recent Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Long Beach, California, Volvo Trucks showcased their latest electromobility offerings with Volvo VNR Electric models in multiple customer fleet operations. Also, its largest order to date was announced of 16 zero-tailpipe emission VNR Electrics from Performance Team – A Maersk Company, a warehousing, logistics and distribution services provider with operations nationwide. The trucks will be delivered to the customer in Q4 2021.

The Volvo VNL 760 25th anniversary model, showcasing Volvo Trucks’ next-generation D13TC engine, will also be a featured attraction at the TMC event. First launched in the Volvo VNL in 2019, the D13TC engine is now standard in all Volvo Trucks VNL models. Providing optimized performance, efficiency and cost savings, the D13TC engine delivers up to 6% fuel economy improvements over the Volvo D13 VGT engine, in addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
