Volvo Active Driver Assist

Volvo Active Driver Assist is always active, providing stationary object detection with stationary vehicle braking, which sends audible and visual warnings if a non-moving, metallic object is detected in front of the truck. Braking assist will be applied – at speeds greater than 15 mph – when the system recognizes the stationary object as a vehicle, independent of whether cruise control is engaged. The driver will receive a warning up to 3.5 seconds before an imminent impact with the stationary vehicle, and, if no action is taken by the driver, Volvo Active Driver Assist will automatically engage the brakes.

Stationary Vehicle Braking

It’s possible through both the radar and camera data working together to confirm the vehicle ahead. They track the moving vehicle and the stationary vehicle at the same time. When a stationary object, like a stopped vehicle, is detected, Volvo Active Driver Assist will provide audible and visual alerts. If the driver does not take action, the system engages the brakes to assist the driver, helping reduce severity or the possibility of a collision.

Following Distance Alert with Enhanced Collision Mitigation

The camera and radar track the vehicle as it moves in suddenly. Volvo Active Driver Assist issues an alert, and, as the gap with the forward vehicle closes, the beeping increases, warning the driver of a possible impact. Volvo Active Driver Assist also applies the brakes, helping the driver to potentially reduce the severity, or possibly avoid impact. Volvo Active Driver Assist intervenes when a vehicle moves in front of the driver’s path and brakes suddenly.

Lane Departure Warning

The radar and camera continue to track moving vehicles in addition to the traffic lanes. As the vehicle drifts, Volvo Active Driver Assist provides an audible alert until the driver corrects their course. The lane departure warning option for Volvo Active Driver Assist uses the camera to track road surface markings.

Volvo is Safety

The Volvo I-Shift takes away the physical and metal demands of changing gears, which reduces driver fatigue and provides more time for the driver to give full attention to surrounding traffic.
